What We're About
IslandX.com is a discovery portal and social network for people who want to move abroad. We believe that relocating abroad should be accessible to everyone who dreams about it, not just the people lucky enough to be moved with their companies. We also believe that the end to end move process can be made easier and more transparent.
We have a quick, and free signup process. Although it is possible to learn a lot about move destinations on our site without signing up, there are distinct advantages to being a member, and anyway, signing up is free. Once you signup you will get access to our forums, be able to participate in city Q&A, and get access to our great social features. This will help you network with people that are either looking for advice about moving to your city, or even planning a move to the same place you are so you have friends in place as soon as you get off the plane!

For those who already know where they want to be, once selected as your move destination you'll easily have access to your relevant city page. On the city page you'll be able to access a range of useful features to help you learn about your destination, while having some fun along the way!

Our Team
Founder & CEO - Marius Hjelset
Marius was born in Norway but has spent most of his years living internationally. By the age of 18 he had already lived in five countries including the USA, Indonesia, Singapore and England. He first had the idea for IslandX while in Bangkok during the 2011 Thai new year celebrations. Sick of wondering how he should take the first step to move from his established life in London, he realised how daunting it is for people to take the big step of moving somewhere new and so decided to create something that would help people in a similar situation. Marius is passionate about making IslandX the world's premier site for people to explore international opportunities.
Co-Founder & CTO - Andy Savage
Andy comes from the UK, and he enjoys researching countries and travel destinations. As the head of IslandX's development team Andy follows a core belief that anything is possible, which fits hand in hand with our ambitious company mission. Andy has years of relevant industry experience having run his own development house which he started early in his career as a developer.
